It's been a minute, but I'm back again. The latest Tech & Tea Goss...

Your goss on all things Product, Technology & Business...

It’s been a minute, but I’m back… again.

Hi folks, I have been crazy busy (& lazy let’s be honest) to write one of these, but with some of you pulling me up on not writing one and what happened?! I need to continue writing. Once I start writing, I really enjoy it. It’s the ‘getting to it’ that’s the hardest. If you relate, let me know.

& note to myself and to all of you from my girl Michelle…

So this post, I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself and write freely.

For some newbies, who probably signed up and forgot:

I’m Yasmin, I build products and people to make the world we live in better

@yastechandtea

I can’t even talk about ‘Product Goss’ this week because, well, it’s been like weeks and weeks. So here are things that I want to have a rant about all at once. Love this for you all:

Using diff types of GPTs to get things done, do you use them?

So while we have Chatgpt, can we honestly say we use it all the time or when we remember to use it? Anyway, I’ve got more into looking at different types of GPTs and found some pretty great ones people have made. My fave one has been this fitness one that I have been using, given I’m not the best of planners in the gym, I found a GPT to give me a routine.

Please share any with me that you like that I can share with the tech and tea gang!

Why is the Bupa Touch app so meh?

I don’t understand why this app is so bad. The constant login information, the way I can’t actually book a follow up referral in the app. Why is it 2024 and healthcare apps for patients are painful. Someone tell a man at Bupa. (Such a first world problem I truly apologise).

My faves over at Flo Health got invested…

I’ve also done a Flo heath review in my first newsletter which was a hit with you all…

I’m sick of X, how are we using socials to connect & network?

Are we all fed up? I have been on X/Twitter for 10 years +. It has been a pivotal platform for connecting with some incredible people over the years & shaped my career direction and finding communities. It is absolute trash now & gives me anxiety that I have pretty much logged out.

I think LinkedIn serves a purpose but is more effort for connecting in conversation. I also cba maintaining Instagram & TikTok content.

We live in a generation where the power of connections made via socials can shape your entire direction, whether your career, your business or products.

Sticking with an Obama theme…

How do you balance stakeholder relationships in your job?

As a product person & as anyone who is trying to grow in whichever role, the art of conflicting conversations & having an influence is always interesting to navigate. In the corporate space, it becomes a world of who you know well enough to get the things you need. It’s prob quite hard for certain personality types, creating some disadvantage. It’s also frustrating, because your skills should be enough to get stuff done.

The reality is and probably a great learning, is everyone needs to master this, even if you’re building your own thing, you really have to figure out how you can create relationships to get the things you want done. & it is bloody hard.

I don’t have any fancy tips, It’s not something I’m a master at. However, staying authentic to who you are will make you and the space much better for people to know & respect you.

If you have any thoughts, I would love to hear them…

Product gems that made me howl…

An accurate description…

& what am I up too?…

I actually have very little producty things to share from the last 2 months. In the last newsletter I shared I had a job change which has been keeping me busy. I plan to at some point do a Marketplace focused newsletter.

I’ve been helping a friend on some research so if you’re a small business looking for some free products to use & test, holla at me!

I also haven’t attended any cool events recently but I have a few coming up, including Lean Agile Scotland in September.

Very little progress on my Flutter journey (I need more hours in the day!)

So that’s everything I haven’t done, but I did get this Newsletter to you so that’s a win! Thank you for reading <3

& I’m looking for some guest writers & products to review and shoutout, so if you fancy it, please get in touch!

& that’s all folks! Please share this to a friend or to all your friends, anyone! & if you haven’t subscribed yet, then like my fave ASOS push notification for when an item is back in stock, GO GO GO! Subscribe & until next time <3…
